Such a blast would be far more powerful than any nuclear device ever detonated by mankind.
And though Asteroid Apophis might not big enough to be dubbed a planet killer, the potentially destructive force could kill thousands if not millions.
According to NASA, all asteroids and comets measuring upwards of 984ft (300m) can cause damage on a “continental” scale.
Because of this, NASA is tracking more of Apophis’ potentially lethal approaches in April 2065, April 2068, October 2068 and April 2076.
